Virginia Spykerman
I am a North Carolina girl through and through! I was raised in the church, but did not understand sin and my need for a Savior until the end of high school and the beginning of college. During those two years, the Lord drew me to Himself and since that time I have experience the blessed assurance that Jesus is mine, and I am His.
After getting a degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I worked in New York, London, Tokyo and Hong Kong in the banking industry. I then moved to Houston, TX where I worked in a repertory theater, pursuing a dream of stage acting. In 2002 I moved back to NC to return to banking. After many years of learning to be content in singleness, at the age of 34, I met Mark Spykerman, a California boy living in NC. We dated three months, were engaged three months, and married on February 15, 2003. We have three teenagers: Wes, Liam and Kristin.
In August 2019 the Lord brought us to Pennsylvania via Mark’s work. Since moving here we have learned to play platform tennis, to wear more layers of clothing in the winter, and to call the “beach” the “shore.” We have been members of Proclamation since January 2020 and are grateful for our community here.
